The Sun - Riots
The images used in this article are of various buildings burning with images of youths carrying stolen goods and starting fires. There is also an image of a woman leaping from a burning building and images of trashed streets.
Some of the sensationalist language used includes; Escalating crisis/mindless thugs/hard-pressed officers/looting/violence/sickening/crisis deepened/trouble making rabble/orgy of violence and destruction/thugs.
This article constructs a representation of youths that they are violent, cruel and selfish, and that they are just out to destroy and they don't have any reason for it. It also insinuates that it is mainly youths.
I think the broadcast is violent because of the sensationalist language used against the youths and because of the images used, and there are no words about what youths have to say about any of it.
The youths aren't given a fair voice as there are no interviews or quotes from them, just images of the ones that are being violent, with nothing about the youths who are against it.
